Comics

I started doing comics again, and while I still have my AntiMLM series to kick back up, I’m trying to see if I can get some people interested and vested in the Janus Fairytale universe. And that’s to do some small crossover stories featuring certain peeps, typically involving themselves going about in the universe with a short story around them. In that way I hope that the stories get some awareness and hopefully a following!

Admittedly I haven’t written anything Heather related in ages, but that’ll change soon. Just have a lot of stuff I’m sorting through at the moment in real life.

But this is a test frame with a crossover from @gettingoutofmyhometown, with her character Emma! She helped pick outfit colors and I still have to come up with a backstory why she ended up there, and have half of her adventure plotted out. I’ll post more when I have some things ironed out.

So if you guys don’t know already, I’ve been working on a comic series based on stuff from the r/AntiMLM subreddit since May now. It’s been an on and off project for me and have a backlog, but it’s been a wonderful project to work on, especially since its the first time any of my projects have actually been recognized and followed.

Recently I approached Kennis the Menace, a Youtuber that covers some subreddits, asking her to give some coverage to the comics I did. She agreed and went ahead to make a video on it; the results are pretty interesting! Big thank you to her. Give it a look below, along with following her on social media linked below.

This one was a blast, despite having to draw so many figures. But the feedback was worth it!

Did you know that apparently it’s a thing to dress up as MLM products? Me neither. So Todd and company decide to show off some proper Halloween costumes. We have Todd as the Deus Ex Machina guy, Benthessia as Witch Mercy, Marcella as 2B and Vash’na as Sylvanas. Also enjoy the Gatchaman reference, too!

We have tons of subreddit references here, and all of the huns were from posts featured on the board during Halloween. Someone dressed up their kid as a Young Living oils bottle, as unbelievable as it sounds.

Looking at this from a general distance, I believe I mixed the colors real well on this one. This particular one looks a bit vibrant from the others. I think it has to do because I did most of the backgrounds and didn’t use filtered stock photos. Hmm…

I decided to start numbering the single-panel comics I’ve been doing about CMDR Taranava. I got feedback for two different versions, but I’m sticking with the non-frame version for now.

This came to mind as I was inspired a bit by @honouri’s stuff, and just had the idea of plopping the character on the floor playing with an SRV. This was the result.

Things can be slow at the Duchess’ HQ, I guess.

I’ve been drawing for quite a long time. I sadly can’t say I’ve been drawing for most of my entire life, but it’s safe to say I’ve been drawing for 1/3rd if not more of it.

As described in my previous story about deviantART, my art skills didn’t really take off until I had access to the platform. A couple of years before that I had taken a short three-week special course at Walters State in a summer drawing class. That helped up my skills a whole bunch over my pre-teen drawings. It wasn’t great, but it wasn’t terrible, either.

This is the comic page that got the most attention. With over 400 upvotes on Reddit, getting posted both in other subreddits and even a Facebook group, it obviously struck a nerve with people. If it was good or bad, I have yet to see.

Now there was a censored version with this comic, and it was missing two frames of action. The subreddit was in a bit of a schism and I didn’t want the comic to feel like it was attacking anyone; but from the feedback I received, nothing was the matter and it was welcome. So I did the uncensored version a few months later.

This came on the height of a wave of posts over there, mainly from reps telling various people that their oils would cure things. From telling parents that it’d make their disabled kid walk again, to applying them to large open flesh wounds, and even a nutty mom who tried to douse her teenage son in essential oils to “get rid of his rebellious and moody behavior.” The latter especially served as a template for the mom in the comic.

Not much explaining here otherwise,  but it was fun to draw the squad in combat gear; took me a bit to figure out what kind of weapon Benthessia would use, but I kitted her with a shotgun as a nod off to Yorina’s armament. So please enjoy.

This was something I cooked up upon a person I’ve known from an Elite: Dangerous group called my Type-10 a space turtle. While this was nothing new, she had previous described other ships with varying names. I decided that this finally needed to be put down for posterity, along with sharing to the entire world.

This did get posted on Reddit with almost 1,000 upvotes and 25,000 views. Suffice to say it was well received. In fact, commenters wanted a Part 2. Looks like I have my work cut out for me.

Inspiration from CMDR Taranava.

With the whole Gnosis snafu that happened, there were quite a number of unhappy pilots. More notably a good chunk of explorers were parked there, most equipped with unarmed Asp Explorers (no weapons = lighter weight = bigger jump range). Thanks to a very priceless comment in one Reddit post, this comic was the result of that.

Hats off to you, poor AspX explorers. Let’s hope the odds are in your favor the next time.

Taking a side detour from the main story, as I’m getting some feedback about the comic about the pace being a bit slow, and not too much MLM things happening. This particular one poked fun at this post; I knew that at least Benthessia could one-up her; what she’s doing is garters is anyone’s guess. But it’s certainly better than leggings!

This piece was posted out of sequence around August 12th (my birthday!), but would chronologically fall in place after the last Lipsense page. I’ve adjusted the links to reflect this.
