This was a real interesting piece to say the least. I met this girl by the name of Aitia online, who listened to my idea of a lineart collab. She took my idea of drawing James Bond and Sheena Fujiayabashi together, then let me color the piece! This has been in production since August of 2010, so I’m glad to finally get it done.
It was one of my first big pieces I had spent time to color properly with new methods such as multiply and layers, and I even got to use my brother’s Mac at the time to work on it to finish (it even worked wonderfully with my tablet!)
I’m less than impressed with the background, but I can always visit this piece in the future and give it a facelift when my skills get better, right?
I’m not exactly sure when I started to do this drawing, but I know I was in Color Theory class and we were watching a movie of Exit Through the Gift Shop, a documentary about the street art movement. I honestly was getting a little bored with it and my mind wandered to Dawnstar, realizing I hadn’t quite visualized my Yorina character. I decided to give her a stab and try to draw her out.
This was the final result, and had her all done to this point by the time the movie had ended. The biggest thing I was worried about was the face, and I actually did make it passable. I was happy with the entire result, and that snark that showed in her face became engrained into her personality as time went on. Out of all the other Dawnstar characters that I drew, she had come out the best, ironically.
This was a plane I tried doodling one day on my Bamboo tablet. I had saved it and said I’d come back to it later, but never did. I should finish this one of these days.
I really liked how it seemed to be a mash up of an RAF bomber and a business jet. I think I had it in mind to make a military shuttle/courier.
This was something I was doodling on my tablet this evening. I’ve just felt isolated a bit and though I have people to talk to here at ETSU, it doesn’t feel real deep and I don’t think I feel like I fit in to do something more. My mind kind of wandered to doing something impactful with a girlfriend figure by my side; I usually draw my OC Jennifer in that role, but I guess the Sheena character from Tales of Symphonia was in my head at the time. Not sure how to find that at college, but it doesn’t seem like it’s going to happen from hanging out in a Christian outreach group, that’s for sure.
More Skype doodles when talking to my sister. This conversation revolved around her being annoyed how something very abstract could be counted as art. I jokingly told her I could make an abstract art about monsters going “XD”. This was the final result.
It’s about the 2nd week of classes here at ETSU, and I’m finding that I’m talking to my sister a lot more. Specifically online with Skype; even talking to my brother and sometimes my Mom. It’s been a real interesting experience.
I don’t know when or where it happened, but I got into the habit of trying to sometimes draw my sister’s colloquialisms that she’d mention. One of these was her complaining how she didn’t want to eat squash curry, saying how it was “looking back at her”. My mind got into work and produced this image.
One evening while I was at my apartment, I decided to have a chat with my sister on Skype, listening to her trying to write some fiction. Some villainous character of hers was supposed to make a resurgence but it was failing spectacularly. He was made akin to the “Phoenix”, as he was supposed to make such a comeback having been defeated.
As you can see my mind sometimes goes off in different directions. I visualized this occurrence as such, and sent the doodle over. I don’t recall how exactly it was received, but the effort was noted, nonetheless.
Random nonsense I did on my tablet one evening for Anna, someone I had met back from Animazement 2008. We were both Touhou fans at the time and I decided to indulge her over AIM one evening with my rendition of how Suika typically acted. Don’t think I was too far off.
This was real great to work on, I got to put my tablet to use coloring this awesome piece by ThePockyMonster! The Toon Link eyes are spot on, and Zelda looks pretty cool herself.
Lines done by ThePockyMonster. Coloring by me.
I may have not played Mass Effect, but I have a pretty good idea on what it’s about. And honestly, I love the storyline. But you know what’s even more better? Tales of Symphonia + Mass Effect.
With me getting into the swing of hopefully doing graphic arts or such this year at ETSU, I’ve upped doing art a whole lot more, in hopes to get more practice. As such, I decided to do an ambitious project; not only create a crossover fanart piece, but freehand it completely instead of draw on paper then transfer.
I’m using Corel PhotoPaint for the time being, as that’s what I’ve always used for all my digital art since 2007. But you get a good view of my layout for this project. Best of luck for me getting somewhere with this.
