One of the fully-fledged, completed game projects I’ve worked on in Game Maker Studio 1.4.

Client requested that I create a promotional platformer “running” game, in which the player must get to work but dodge various obstacles. There was a “timer” in which how many seconds the player was late, and hitting these obstacles would increase this timer. The game was very simple, with the only key being for the player to jump (much like Flappy Bird).

It was meant to be played in an HTML5 environment, and had to be hosted client-side to function.

This project was just as equal art as programming. Save client input on the game mechanics, I created all the sprites and gameplay from the ground up.

Features included a scrolling parallax background, royalty-free music and even animated sprites on some of the background elements.

This was a project on a smaller budget, so fully fleshed out asset set was sacrificed in lieu of that and a quick delivery date. It was an excellent exercise to create an entire concept from scratch.
