While traveling with my Dad back home to Tennessee, we stopped in at a Waffle House near Lake Park, Georgia I think. I got some eggs and hash with mushrooms and cheese, along with their trademark coffee. It was quite enjoyable, and not bad for a first meal there (yes, that’s the first time I ate there!)
The byproduct of pulling almost-all-nighters with classwork? Eating cereal at 3PM in the afternoon when you wake up.
I always mix the copycat Captain Crunch Cereal with something else, usually like bran flakes or in this case, rice crispers. At least I’m not getting a whole bowl of sugar that way, and some more nutrition and bran is added to my diet.
This was an interesting dish I got to munch earlier today; and it felt even more rewarding since I cooked most of it myself!
The main dish was tuna pasta salad; yeast flakes, onions, mayo and canned tuna. Veggies were a bag of mixed beans n’ potatoes that you’d microwave in a bag. And the chicken side is just Wing Dings from Walmart.
Pretty good afternoon lunch if I would say so myself.
This was a pretty spiffy meal, working out great for a cold December morning back when I was home at ETSU. Cream of mushroom soup, fried red kidney beans, coffee and toast. With the stuff I’m eating while at school, this was a welcome change.
As I’m on a Mass Effect 3 kick at the moment, I found myself doing this when I went to McDonalds the other day. French fries Normandy SR-2! Don’t think anyone did that one as yet; what say you, Bioware?
Again and again, I hit milestone with my iPhone. While I have taken pictures of my food before, it wasn’t really a thing in my mind till I had reread a portion of Margaret Mason’s No One Cares What You Had for Lunch. Yes, nobody cares, but she said to show rather than blog “Oh, I had fries for dinner.” This was more as a test photo if anything, but it would be the first of many as I slowly became comfortable taking pictures of my food.
Here, I was pretty sure this got taken because the Reeds non-alcoholic ginger brew looked like real beer, especially in the glass. Hmm.
For Christmas Eve we had alfredo. Spiffy enough, though I helped with it this time around. Bean sprouts included on the side, because it obviously has to be healthy.
The plate and fork are my specific doing, these were “zen” utensils I bought at Pier 1 earlier that year to try to adapt to feng shuei, in an attempt to be “calm”. It was tricky eating the alfredo with a wooden bamboo fork, but it was interesting to say the least.
I went out with a connection of mine, meeting them in Johnson City to just get my mind off of some nonsense that was going at. We were originally going to go to an Indian restaurant, but they were doing that “siesta” thing where they close between lunch and dinner. So we ended up at Ryans’ instead.
I think near the end of us eating, I just wanted to top off so I made a face out of my food. She certainly got a kick out of it. Now if they’d have onion rings more often…
On our way to Washington D.C, we stopped at McDonalds for breakfast. Pancakes were the food of order; definitely enjoyed this, since our syrup never tastes like anything that can be made at home.
As far as I know, this was the first time I actually started taking pictures of my food. It wasn’t something I did very often then, but more as a historical kind of documenting moment. I don’t have a lot of photos showing what I did in my teen years, so anything that exists is almost a big peek into my past; even if it’s an insignificant thing as what I ate.
Here, we have fried chicken, mac and cheese and a cup of water. Usually paid about $2 for all of this, and bought it during my 15-minute break. The only time I wouldn’t buy this is if the deli was closed, which was after 5PM. In that case I’d revert back to candy or something else.
