So recently I’ve been in a mood with my art, and usually that does result in me coming up with genuine stuff that I’m feeling. This was the result of some Gradius music, upcoming Valentine’s day and some IRL experience when dealing with people where I live.

This is that recurring redhead character in some stuff I write, although I don’t draw her often. I decided with all of that going on to draw her in my new style, and push it a little further this time.

I suppose you can also call it a continuation of a piece I did when the pandemic was in full swing, but yeah, there you go.

A personal piece I did this evening, was sort of in a mood after hearing some people carry on about. One thing I will not understand about people from East Tennessee, is their inherent dislike of flying. Not just “I’m scared of flying”, but “I DON’T like flying.”

This piece specifically came about when one person I knew declared they would rather drive 15-17 hours someplace, and not fly a few hours to cover the distance. They were getting into a relationship with a friend of mine, and said friend sees not flying anywhere as an inconvenience. They complain how they want to go cross country, but can’t fly because their partner “doesn’t want to fly”, and eventually don’t go anywhere because it’s too far to drive.

This is the result of a joke from someone out of Mobius PvE making a joke about my previous piece yesterday. Apparently they clearly were able to ascertain that not only were the two gals the co-pilots, that also they meant a lot in the piece. As such, they made a innuendo joke about me being on top of things, which is a reference to the pilot on top/co-pilots on the bottom seating arrangement of both the Type-9 Heavy and Type-10 Defender. I thought it was a funny pun, and had to actually visualize this image that was in my head.

Morale of this piece? Make sure your copilots don’t mind you being on top of them. And Lakon should probably build better seating arrangements in their ships. I’m also sure those two would be pretty coordinated to fly like that; almost like those super robot anime things.

Except last year, I pretty much try to get a birthday piece done every year. It varies in content, but it generally is characters of mine being kind or silly. This year I went for the former, and had my OC Jennifer, along with my blog mascot Yorina grab a seat with a self-portrait of yours truly. I rarely have myself depicted in artworks, so it was a little charming, to be honest.

As usual, I did the coloring and the background, and opted to use the station background from Rafferty’s Mobius as the backdrop. On top of my that, my Type-10 Obsidian Anvil is pretty prominent on the pad. It seems more mashed up with genres, but you can always count on me crunching genres like this together.

This was based off an old idea that I’ve been playing around with in 2009, and came to light now that I was posting my Reddit writing prompt involving the two main characters. I never really visualized who their mentor would be, but with some time to think about it, I think she’d look a lot like a Notikan, perhaps even be related to them.

Either way, I was happy with the Tomcat, the color palette and getting the characters down. A few people who looked at this got the point straight across; they gathered it was some time travel fantasy story. As long as that point got across, I’m happy.

This is a piece I had done earlier in the year, but had forgotten to post here on the site. Whoops.

But yes, this is a digital redraw of a piece I had done in 2009 on paper. I used my Cintiq on this one to redraw it, to great effect. I loved how it turned out and think its pretty interesting I actually finished this, as the original paper drawing was a WIP I didn’t complete.

To be honest, I really like how this came out. Especially with my better drawing skills, Jennifer really came to life here. Here’s that I can do her greater justice in the near future.

This was an old drawn piece that I had done in my sketchbook back at ETSU, but decided to do over and give it a shot in digital a few years later. I had bought a bunch of brush packs in an attempt to paint better, and gave a few of those a shot here. These were all oil-painting type brushes, and I think they gave the effect I was looking for quite amply.
