I decided to make my own philly cheesesteak recently, considering that it’s hard to get sandwiches or the like where I live. I used this guy’s recipe, minus the worcestershire sauce as I didn’t have any on hand. I also did have to use smaller bread because of the pandemic.

It came out pretty tasty, and got to add two different varieties of cheese and mushrooms. My cousin’s fiance approved as well. I’ll need to make these again sometime.

For the first time this year, took the time to get takeout from my favorite joint in Greeneville. However, my contact wasn’t anywhere to be found; looks like she sold the place to someone different. Nobody even remembered who she was, which definitely let me know something was up.

Still, the food tasted as normal. Got my standard fare of scallion chicken, wonton, vegetable lo mein, ginger chicken wings, shrimp and spring rolls. While this will be helping with creative stuff tonight, I do feel sad that one of three people I knew by name in that town is gone, and without warning. Time will tell if I like how the place is run in the future.

It’s been a good bit since I’ve eaten lo mein made with meat inside of it, and most of those times it ends up in disaster (usually being rancid). But on my outing to Orlando, we had Chinese takeout for dinner. I took shrimp lo mein with some chicken wings as my dish.

To my utter surprise, the entire thing was fantastic. The noodles were very tasty, the shrimp great and the chicken wings even greater. I unfortunately didn’t get to have them again before I left, but I highly recommend checking China Tea out, right in the Publix Shopping Plaza off of University Dr. I loved it so much, I’m even giving you GPS coordinates to go find them yourself. Enjoy.

So when I went to the KnoxAsia festival with my cousin’s fiance, we grabbed food; after all, that was one of the best things you could ask for while at a festival. She had some butter chicken with naan, and I had stir-fry fried rice with chicken, and some zucchini strips. We had to wait quite awhile for our food (about an hour), but when we sat down to eat in the lawn, it was an interesting experience for sure.

So I tried to make my own frappe thing based from ingredients in the store. I have caramel syrup in the coffee, then topped it off with whipped creamed and caramel drizzle. It didn’t taste too bad, but I found that the caramel syrup didn’t taste at all like the caramel in the drizzle, and the whipped cream did leave a bit of a miss. Overall not a bad concoction.

So I picked up this monstrosity when I went to Starbucks for a job interview earlier today. I don’t know what I was quite expecting taste-wise, but it certainly was very sweet and sugary, and tasted a lot like cotton candy. Definitely not like a mocha or cappuccino. I think I did get this because I missed out on that Unicorn shake the previous years.

Final verdict? Not bad. This is stuff for an easygoing road trip or hanging out with friends. Don’t get this if you’re in the mood to focus and want something stiff/regular.

When I decided to grab food before heading back home today, Sticky Rice immediately came to mind. So I stopped in for this lovely dish, dry rub wings.

I’ve had this dish a few times before, the first being at the Knox Asia Festival in 2017. The Sticky Rice peeps had set up a booth with a few different types of chicken, and this was rubbed with some spices and some quite hot pepper. It was very oily, perfectly fried and trumped any KFC that may have come my way.

Do stop into them and try this dish, it’s worth the $8. Maybe one day I’ll have a whole-blown meal from them when time allows.

Not only is this an Eateries, I actually helped make this! Snazzy, custom flavored Red Baron pizza, the triple cheese brick oven variant. Fresh bell peppers, mushrooms and onions top this delectable dish, along with a tiny bit of shavings of habanero hot peppers for extra spice. Baked this to perfection on a pizza stone.

Why am I baking a pizza in the middle of the night? Family just came off the road from being out all day, and decided that pizza would be the best option instead of going hungry or cooking something complicated.

Too bad I missed the other stuff I cooked July 4th. Oops.
