In the geek/nerd/anime community, there’s a pun that goes around that “if you’re a virgin when you hit 30, you’ll become a wizard.” I fall into that category. However one night I was chatting with an ex-coworker, she mentioned that I was also a “tech wizard” in addition to that. I figured I’d embrace it it was going to happen regardless, and this happened. Now if my monitors would only stand up like that.
Still trying to put this evening into words. I won’t bore you with a forever long story, but I was called into the office today, and was given a choice; be let go or take part-time pay. Totally a left-field curveball. I told them part time, took my check and drove home.
So it looks like I’ll need to be looking for another job now. I’m pretty sure the part time thing is just a step into laying me off in the future.
The worst part? I’m single AND going without work. Way to go, Valentine’s Day weekend.
Today was an interesting snow day. My dad borrowed my Jeep to bring my sister home from work. Mom and I shared a can of cream of chicken mushroom soup. And Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak releases this afternoon. So yes, a real interesting snow day.
Just an update on me in general. I’m looking to open a gaming channel on August 1st. Book’s coming along nicely! Also will be updating my personal site a lot more. So follow and enjoy!
A not-so-normal egg and biscuits breakfast I had one morning. Biscuits are from Pillsbury, egg has half-poached/fried.
A light but fulfilling breakfast I had earlier today! Raspberry Pop-Tart, blueberries and cheddar cheese with a dinner roll. I know it’s not much to look at, but its a huge shift from the atypical Guyanese breakfast that is usually eaten.
Another good and quick breakfast one easygoing morning. Raspberry yogurt, cherry toaster strudel (Pillsbury), fresh blueberries and strawberries, along with coffee.
What happens when you take the N7 Eagle pistol from Mass Effect 3 and slap it into Iona’s hand? This. Something I drummed up while playing around in MMD one night.
From what I can tell, this is actually the official model used in the anime, ported for use in MMD. Interesting.
So with my newfound job, one of the things I’ve been doing in trying to stack up on all my favorite books I read while I was younger. These two books I loved to death, as they dealt with mysterious, unknown things. The Universe in a Nutshell helped me understand astronomical and cosmology concepts quite a bit, too. I’m glad to finally own these!
Finally getting an upgrade! Just swapped to this iPhone 5S today, so this’ll be interesting. This is actually the first time I’m buying my own phone, so it’s a first for me. Still sticking to that Otterbox goodness; kept me out of trouble the first time around, and hopefully it’ll do the same this time.
