This was the first WritingPrompts I had done in 2019 on Reddit. I definitely fell in line, hook and sinker for the plot; write a story about being polite to the dragon, rather than defeating it for the goal. I decided to use an idea I ad from something I was writing in 2009, with a sort of OC based on me and a girl called Jennifer (whom you might’ve seen art for here in the past), going together through various settings like time travelers. I used the Reddit prompt to formulate a sort of “intro” story to that idea, which I’ll be springboarding off with in the future.

This is a two-part post, with the second post being published next week at the same time.

This version is also slightly edited, as I didn’t like how rough the first part was written on-demand when posting. The dragon and the warrior seemed too cardboard-cutout, and the events seemed to pre-planned.

Done in April 21, 2019.

Note: My writing for Reddit writing prompts is different for brevity. While this is a good example of my writing, I often omit backstory and several details to create a concise post. Please look at my other works if you’re looking for my more regular style of writing.

Second Entry

I could see the clearing up ahead. My nose already scrunched at the smell of scorched flesh and smoke. I shook my head, focused on my task at hand.

I ran through my head what the old man had said back at the zen garden. Don’t go in starting a fight. Use wit. Appeal to him as your own friend. Give him a gift of interest.

When people ask me what I do to relax to sleep or get in the mood for writing, they’re often shocked when they hear my response. Most likely because they don’t hear me say I need to lock myself in a corner of a room with a blanket, or whatever a typical introvert would say.

Apparently going out into public to write is such a big shocker.

This one was a tad bit of a doozy; you have Reddit to thank for this fusion.

I recently saw a picture of an English breakfast, namely with the tater tots, brisket steak, eggs and mushrooms. I wanted to give it a stab to the best of my ability, so I decided to try it this morning.

While I do lack the steak, I did have the mushrooms, eggs and tater tots. The eggs were friend and do contain chives. I cooked those in short order; the blueberries were for a dessert, but as I didn’t get to use it and they were getting old, threw them into the breakfast as well. Bread and cheese was Mom’s contribution.

It was pretty tasty; though I need to get a lot better at making my egg looked poached and photographic. Also my mushrooms always seem to not have a lot of flavor. Need to look into that in the future.

Stopped at Starbucks after the eclipse for some much needed A/C, headspace and to relax just a tad bit. Almost felt like I was on the road today; it was a real great feeling and enjoyed the outing.

Do apologize for the blurry screen, I didn’t realize I had something private on the screen until I got it ready for posting. So just had to obscure that.

In my senior year of Walters State in 2009, I slowly started to take a liking to gardening. I never cared for being outside and still feel that way a little; but putting something to grow and letting it flourish had a sense of accomplishment along to it.

I equated it to the same level as raising fish; it was a hobby, and something that I liked. What set me on that path even more was the stories of rare and odd trees that people would grow, or rare seeds from a special flower. The one that I got hyped on was the heirloom category, genuinely interested in letting 100-year-old strains of peppers or tomatoes to bloom freely out, the rare fruit being yours.

Hello all! Hope 2015 has gone well with you! We have a brand new year to look forward to. There are things to plan, things to do, things to accomplish.

As you know, I have a few publishing projects that I’m running simultaneously. I would like to announce the near completion of another work of fiction I’ve been working on. This project in particular is not co-authored; I’ve written this completely on my own rather than a collaborative effort. It’s also my first story in the horror genre.

Follow the story of three college kids getting wrapped up into a Civil-War themed Halloween masquerade. Before they know it, their outing takes a chilling turn for the worse as they find themselves at the doors of the Rotherwood Mansion. Together they must survive its horrors and solve the riddle to escape. The story is set in the real-life location of East Tennessee, playing off the urban legends of a famous haunted house.

This book is actually finished in writing, and has been going through an editing process since August of 2015. I’m hoping to have it up to the public in early spring.

Keep an eye out for it. 🙂

Since my beginning of driving a 1990-91 Nissan Maxima, I’ve rotated through a total of four vehicles. Some I’ve driven on and off, all I’ve owned for only about two or three years. Except one.

The Orion. The car that went through hell and came back.

Orion was nothing special at first, a 1991 Toyota Camry. 4-cylinder 2.0L block, automatic transmission. I was gifted the car in 2004, but didn’t start officially driving it until 2005. I was issued it after an accident I had gotten into with my parents’ Mazda 929, who didn’t trust me with their “high-end” vehicle anymore.

For my first company dinner, the group went out to Timberwood Grill. It actually was a great place to eat, and I had spiffy food of buffalo wings, along with fish and chips. All in all it was a good experience, and I would recommend.

Right before snapping this picture, a coworker was announcing that “I was taking pictures of my food” in a mocking and obnoxious manner. Yeah, whats-your-name. I will take pictures of my food if I like. Just the same way you can take dozens of photos of your kids.

Personal advice from me. Let people mind their own business in peace sometimes, and don’t be a loudmouth about it just because you can. Thank you.
