spacecraft

While this concept was something I’ve been wanting to do for a very long time, I started on it just around the time @gettingoutofmyhometown was having her Instagram giveaway. If you draw something with her character for the event, your art gets a chance to be featured, along with being given 3 entries for the giveaway.

So I did a different version of this piece, putting her character in as the protagonist instead of who I was originally going to go with. Honestly I think it came out well. She was impressed with it as well, going to print out a copy to hang up!

As for the story behind the original plot? I’ll do the original version I had intended first, but I’ve been making notes and I do plan on writing about it. But it involves a prototype space-superiority fighter, an old engineer looking for young blood to fly it, and a looming threat intentionally being buried under wraps.

You’ll definitely be hearing about this story in the future.

I decided to try to mount a spare little markerboard sitting around at work onto my door. I also then decided to try to put some doodles on it to test! I think this works and I approve. Do enjoy the Startopia-like alien writing, with a flair of katakana influence.

This was a plane I tried doodling one day on my Bamboo tablet. I had saved it and said I’d come back to it later, but never did. I should finish this one of these days.

I really liked how it seemed to be a mash up of an RAF bomber and a business jet. I think I had it in mind to make a military shuttle/courier.

I had been a fan of the game DarkStar One for quite awhile, especially since when I nabbed it as a Christmas gift one year ago. With my new computer, it’s a lot easier to play it, and I’ve progressed well, glad to say!

During this day, I decided to draw the decked out version of the ship on my teacher’s markerboard. Most of the people in the class got a kick out of it, and when another student tried to draw something else we all joked how it wasn’t a “work of art” as the other thing. Eventually my professor erased it, but it was a funny class representation.

This is an older piece that I redid with my newfound art skills of this year. I was very happy how this turned out, especially after bringing my imaginary childhood ship to life. I thought the “pixeling” of ships was limiting and rudimentary, but it was definitely much more pleasing to look at, over my not-so-good-anime drawings I was attempting.

This is something I’ll be trying in the future again. Let’s see if it’ll stick around.

This was something I did earlier in 2004. With my IGA universe, I had this idea of a prototype spaceship with a high-capacity engine. It was built with technology found in an alien crypt, and has the abilities to go to different galaxies.

It wasn’t too big of a ship, mostly mean for about 3-4 people to ride in. Over half the ship is power systems and engines. It isn’t geared for combat with light weapons, but it has an excellent defense shield.
