When I opened my Discord server months ago for buddies, my pal Taranava had made the suggestion I draw my bug girls as baristas, one of them brandishing weapons. I loved the concept and obliged recently, and have now pronounced the two as the server’s official mascots. I’ve yet to give them names, but I think they’re a bit too inspired by Gura and Ina from Hololive.

I’m discovering a ton of footage I lost the past couple of weeks, including some old art recordings and footage from Orcs Must Die: Unchained. So those are queued pronto, as they’ve been sitting longer.

When I met my online buddy Wayc, I had created him a Kashri OC for him to use with stories, etc. In 2019 we had cooked up this sort of spoof of a zany 50’s story akin to the classic The Blob, so I was starting to do some artwork for him in a dump for inspiration. I had done more than these two figures, but these were the ones I supposedly decided to get footage of.

While that was for him and is not for public sharing, I can share the footage of what I’ve done at least!

While I was on my writing streak last summer, this was one prompt I had written a response to. I find that I like to “go against” the grain of most of the responses, if that’s a thing. A lot of people on this thread were “whoops, I got left here” or “I was serving a prison sentence here”. The architecture reminded me a lot of South Asian, so I tried to put that into a spin of someone visiting. A bit brief and rough, but I liked it.

Done in July 24, 2020.

Note: My writing for Reddit writing prompts is different for brevity. While this is a good example of my writing, I often omit backstory and several details to create a concise post. Please look at my other works if you’re looking for my more regular style of writing.

OP

“How far are we out?”

“Not too far, we will be onsite in a minute.”

Va’shoo unsteadily fingered her pulse rifle. Their lance had been sent to bodyguard the Monarch’s “Paladin” on a personal matter. She had sent her and several of her sisters with this task. The young man differed from both their kind and hers; the olive skin and dark hair. He had been recovered in deep space two years ago, and his origins were unknown.

Had an early start today, and had the urge to put this out later on. Admittedly this was partially because of a Reddit post I had seen a few days ago, but I honestly have been in a sort of post-season funk with some of my projects. And considering I haven’t done a fully-illustrated piece since my birthday, it was time to change that.

I drew a lot of inspiration from this song, which I had looped on repeat for a few hours. I was in a full debate to make this a Halo-esque warzone or the rain, but I think the latter fit in with the tone I was going for.

This was something I was working on since June, but had let it sit for several months. Partially pandemic inspired, too.

More or less my Janus Fairytale characters getting put in a lower island layer on their world, finding lots of strange fungal and plant growth. Old, eerie ruins loom in the back, hinting of a greater presence in the past. Small spore wisps sprout out of the grass, glowing with a soft orange light.

I listened to this for a bit while working on this, so I think it helped carry the tone I was aiming for.

An art piece I did for my DnD friend Karomaz, who’s paladin character had their son kidnapped. I jokingly told them that my Kashri and Notikan characters would be glad to lend a hand in this matter, and this was the result. Sci-fi meets DnD 5th edition.

You have a few things going on in the back, mostly some Supreme Commander units, a Mechassault laser tank, a Halo Wars 2 Cyclops, and an original design trooper carrier based on those old sci-fi book covers. The antler lady in the back is their campaign’s villain, the Lady of the Woods.

He got a big kick out of it, which made me happy. So mission accomplished!

For once, I actually get my Valentines art done! Please stay happy out there today. I know it may seem crummy if you’re single (I am, I know all too well how that feels), but it’ll work out. Improve yourself and be active about changing being single, if that’s what you want. That last bit is extremely important. Fingers crossed we’ll both get somewhere one day.

EDIT: I was told by my an online friend “to stop giving the bug girls guns.” I may or may not heed that suggestion.

Got a bit inspired to do some stuff after my trip, and drummed these up! Here’s some of my characters in black and with gear, ready for some action with a experimental ride. Featured are Emma (blonde) and Peepee (blue hair). Admittedly, some old stories about the Skunkworks is what inspired me to do this.

This was a fun little crossover art freebie I did for @fungiwoman, who takes pretty spiffy mushroom photos on her Instagram account! Here I crossed her over with peeps from my Janus Fairytale setting, having a big get-together and swapping a variety of mushrooms. Elizabeth and company get a taste of Earth mushrooms, and fungiwoman gets some interesting samples of Talmeron fungi.
