2013

Seven years ago, I was asked a question by someone regarding me dating. It was the winter of 2013, right after I got out of school to find my way in the world.

If you found the perfect someone that you wanted, met all your checkmarks and needs, whatever you imagined; but they wanted to live in a quiet little rural spot. They just wanted to be left alone from the world, they absolutely loved the area. Would you turn them down?

At the time, I told them that would work out for me off the cuff. I tried to be a little open-minded with the question.

Seven years later, I’m staring into a shower wall at 3AM. That conversation came back to my head. With that much years and experiences gone by since. Without hesitation, without question, I knew the answer without conflict.

No.

I don’t think I really need to explain the answer, considering I have shared about myself the past few years. But that would never work out for me. Maybe twenty years later when I’ve had enough of civilization, I’d change my mind. But when I don’t even have in my 30s what most people have in their early 20s, marrying someone to hide in rural nowhere won’t get that for me.

I saw this going around on Instagram and deviantART, so I decided to hop on and do it myself. Here’s my collage of art in a decade.

As you can see, it varies up and down, but only has taken big steps in the last 2ish years. My art was on the cusp of going forward in 2013, then I regressed and it was like I started drawing from scratch all over again to a point. I know I’m very glad with the progress I made, but I feel like it’s progress I should’ve made when I was 6-7 years younger, not when I’m in my early 30s’.

Better late than never, however! Here’s to 2020 being a year I make good milestones and outproduce what I did previously! I think constant work hours has to do with me getting better.

For my first company dinner, the group went out to Timberwood Grill. It actually was a great place to eat, and I had spiffy food of buffalo wings, along with fish and chips. All in all it was a good experience, and I would recommend.

Right before snapping this picture, a coworker was announcing that “I was taking pictures of my food” in a mocking and obnoxious manner. Yeah, whats-your-name. I will take pictures of my food if I like. Just the same way you can take dozens of photos of your kids.

Personal advice from me. Let people mind their own business in peace sometimes, and don’t be a loudmouth about it just because you can. Thank you.

I’ve yet to find the full Lacus Clyne figure of her normal outfit for less than $100, but I snagged this on an online sale recently; Lacus in a spacesuit! She’s a bit bigger than most of my other Gundam figures, and I love her pose. Too bad she can’t stay on the desk, though.

Either way, girls in spacesuits equal win. Definitely don’t regret this snatch.

Finally getting an upgrade! Just swapped to this iPhone 5S today, so this’ll be interesting. This is actually the first time I’m buying my own phone, so it’s a first for me. Still sticking to that Otterbox goodness; kept me out of trouble the first time around, and hopefully it’ll do the same this time.

So yes, this is my last photo with my old phone. Signing off for now.

It’s been ages since I’ve done a fleet cockpit photo, so I decided to give the good girl Novastar one for the books, considering she’s my daily driver at the moment. She always had this luxury feel; it never felt functional or barebones like Orion. Even Vesuvius, my Jeep Grand Cherokee limited felt more utilitarian than this.

And yes, while I was technically assigned Vesuvius, the vehicle is not suitable for daily 100-mile drives any longer. With no A/C in the heat of August and still stuck in 3rd gear (making it terrible for Interstate driving), I was assigned to use the heavy cruiser for the time being.

But you couldn’t complain with this Mazda 929 for comforts. While I did despise the cassette player and the analog clock, the rest I definitely enjoyed; cruise control at 30mph, volume controls on the steering wheel, heated leather seats and fog lights. And how could I forget about the auto-climate control system? That was an extremely ingenious system. I also loved how the instruments seemed to wrap around me, not just straight-on like the Jeep.

Well, at least it gave me better gas mileage than Vesuvius.

I find that nowadays I get home, I just want to veg out a little bit and do something else than either be in the house or napping. I do get tired, but until I hammer out a better schedule, I hop outside just as it starts to cool down just a little. And since this is the end of August, it’s thankfully not sweltering hot when out here.

So often I have a soda, taking my saucer chair and lounging on the back porch with my Iconia A100 tablet, browsing deviantART or Houzz  (as you can see here). It is a little clunky but the Houzz app works beautifully, and it’s like browsing virtual housing without leaving your couch.

Time will tell when I finally start doing something in the evenings.
