It’s taken me a year and some since I took on this project, but I finally have the trifecta of Crobato’s work chronicled when this goes live. I certainly hope that both old and new members of the Homeworld community appreciates it.

Chris “Crobato” Robato is a name known in the Homeworld fan community, known for a few notable, well-written pieces in the early 2000s. Before Soul of the Progenitors dropped in 2004, he would go to write two of his well-known works; The White Beast, and The Kadeshi Crusade.

Both were originally hosted on Kiithopia, and then hosted on the now defunct RelicNews forum; a hotspot for all Homeworld fans in those days.

Act 26

Gate of Karnak, Habados System, Kalkuth Sector

Movers swam through the cloud of dark debris. Not long before the dark debris was two of the most powerful ships of the Galaxy, the Tartarus and the Sajuuk. Now, the Movers sift through the debris with their scanners, looking for useful material they could still salvage, pieces of technology that they would not want to share with undeserving races.

But besides those, there was something else they were looking for. One Mover signaled its discovery to the rest of its squadron. Not long after, another Mover found the other one. Both were capsules, made from a metal forged in the cores of dead stars, with a dark colored sheen that was reflected the sun and the stars about them. The Movers hoped that the two capsules would have survived the disintegration of the dreadnaught and the mothership. And inside the capsules lay something ancient, something that harks back to the beginnings of their race.

Act 25

Aboard the Pride of Hiigara

The repairs were quick and the Hiigaran mothership have graduated from critical to serious status, although the great Mothership remained under constant attack. It was a testimony to the unceasing efforts of the ship’s inboard crew and the Collectors to save the Mothership from the brink of destruction. It has been a while since Karan was on the Pride of Hiigara, but the familiarity stored in her memories and nerve synapses quickly switched in, and it felt like no day has passed since time they battled Makaan for control of the Sajuuk.

Act 24

Aboard the Pride of Hiigara

A last minute short jump saved the Hiigaran mothership from further damage. Karan wondered about the ships they had to leave behind, which had gathered around the Sajuuk to protect it. Something distracted the P3 attack on the Sajuuk, which allowed the dreadnaught to survive. Yes, she could still sense the presence of Sajuuk. Karan had inquired the status of the Kun-Laan 2 through direct communications from her own newly added links to the Pride of Hiigara. She was relieved that the Somtaaw mining ship was safe. But the Kun-Laan 2 had lost almost all her escorts in sacrifice, and her captain was wounded. The ship was heavily damaged, with several critical modules destroyed. There was no word on her Kun-Laan 2’s strike craft, consisting mainly of the improvised Super Acolytes. But their numbers have dwindled, and the survivors have gone on to protect the straggling Sajuuk along with the Hiigaran regular strike craft. With the Kun-Laan 2 incapacitated, the Somtaaw squadrons would have to dock on Hiigaran carriers for repairs.

so long ago…

She stood before the Grand Council of Elders. Among them stood Sajuuk. Others that stood with him, she could recall their names…Meheraan, Mastuk, Bashir, Sulaiman, and more. They were the Council of the Twelve, as they were also called. Beyond the Counil stood a mighty host of Believers, those who still follow the Word.

Act 22

Aboard the Vaygr Mothership Batu

The bleeps and the purple circles came hard as a surprise on the tactical display screens.

Taklan staggered and shouted. “Status!”

“We have multiple jump signatures above and below our position!” Agripas shouted.

“What!” Taklan exclaimed. “Are we not already engaging their main center fleet ahead of us? Isn’t our carrier strike forces hitting their rear guard?”

“By our calculations we are supposed to be engaging both their central and rear guard fleet positions. I thought based on our own and the Hiigaran intelligence we should have accounted for all their mothership and capital ship class vessels already.” Agripas said.

Act 21

Aboard the Ark of Geddon, Harados System, Kalkuth Sector

Something stirred in the darkness.

Iisha opened her eyes.

Radal, who was monitoring the traffic of ships, asked. “What was it?”

”They’re here,” Iisha answered.

“Are you sure?” Radal asked again.

Iisha scanned the space of the room with her eyes, as if her eyes could see through the walls into the skies beyond. “Yes, they are here.”

Radal took a deep breath and walked to the chair. “Your people—the Awakened— have not finished moving to all the Progenitor ships.”

“We have no time now,” Iisha said. “We have to do what we can.”

“Then it’s battle stations,” Radal ordered. Gursal nodded.

Act. 20

Vaygr Shuttle, Gate of Karnak, Harados System, Kalkuth Sector

A wing of Assault Craft flew above the shuttle, while another wing flew below. In the flanks of the shuttle, escorted two wings of Lance Fighters, one to the left of the shuttle, the other on the right. Combined, the four wings created a cross formation with the shuttle in the center, and the entire formation made its way out of the Hiigaran fleet formation and towards the Vaygr formations.

The screens flickered. The face in the screen bowed. “Vaygr-Khar,” he uttered humbly.
